Abstract

This article addresses an approximation between the thesis of Procedural Rhetoric, by Ian Bogost (2007), and Operant Conditioning, by Burhuus Skinner (1938). To facilitate understanding of the approximation, the game Monster Hunter World (2018) is used as an object where the approximation of the two theories is applied. Initially, each of the theories is presented, with Procedural Rhetoric on communication in digital games and Operant Conditioning on human behavior and linked to psychology. The object is presented for analysis and the convergence between the two theories within the object begins. The text ends with final considerations on the scope of the approach.
