Abstract

Based on the epistemologies of the South (Veron), we constructed na intelligibility matrix aiming at research on mediatization. This model articulates three of Veron's topics: circulation and semiosis; flows between institutions, media and actors; mediatization as a process of differentiation of the species, due to the power to materialize mental experiences. We added the axis of power and social classifications to this model. Based on this model, in the second section, we discuss interfaces with other research streams in mediatization. In the third section, we focus on reflecting on social classifications as part of mediatization processes.
