Approximations and distinctions between mediations and mediatization applied to consumption
perspectives on the Anthropocene
Keywords:
mediations, mediatization, consumptionAbstract
This text addresses the similarities and distinctions between the concepts of mediations and mediatization applied to consumption from the perspective of a critical communication approach aimed at overcoming the Anthropocene. It is considered that the transformations on the planet, particularly in its environmental aspect, are directly correlated with the sociocultural and geopolitical environments across all regions of the world. From this standpoint, reflecting on the world from a Latin American and Brazilian perspective becomes a challenge, given the hegemonic tensions in the theoretical and methodological formulations of non-hegemonic contexts, evidently situated in the Global South, as is the case of Brazil, in the realms of communication and consumption.
