Abstract

The study focuses on digital communication in Mozambique, exploring future trends, challenges, and opportunities in an increasingly connected world. The objective is to analyze the impact of emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blockchain, on the reconfiguration of the country's communication ecosystem, as well as to reflect on the role of communication in sustainable development, aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The methodology is qualitative, based on a systematic literature review of secondary sources, such as scientific articles, reports, and official documents, with an emphasis on the African and Mozambican context. The findings reveal that, despite the growth in internet access and smartphone usage, challenges persist, such as gaps in telecommunications infrastructure, inequalities in access to information, and a lack of technical skills. However, opportunities stand out, including the growth of technology startups, innovation in local content, and the potential of emerging technologies to transform communication. The study proposes public policies to promote digital inclusion, including investments in infrastructure, technical training programs, and incentives for innovation, aiming to position Mozambique as a leader in innovation in Southern Africa. It is concluded that digital communication is a strategic pillar for the country's sustainable development, requiring coordinated actions between the public, private, and civil society sectors. The equitable and effective integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) is essential to overcome challenges and seize the opportunities offered by the digital revolution.
