Mediatization and Journalism: some hypotheses
Keywords:
Semiosis; Technical Communication Devices; SystemsAbstract
This article presents some hypotheses from an ongoing research project on mediatization and journalism. They are based on empirical studies reported in other works and aim to systematize a theoretical reflection on how journalism participates in the processes of mediatization, considering journalism itself as a mediatized social practice. It seeks to understand the relationships between social practices and discursive practices put into circulation through technical communication devices. It presents three perspectives on mediatization – institutional, socio-constructivist and semioanthropological – and proposes a diagram of mediatization to describe contemporary media processes in the production of social semiosis. The text is submitted with the sole purpose of debating its ideas and, thus, qualifying the production.
