Reflections on the role of Community journalism in everyday life for the constitution of critical thinking

Politics and economics are two sides of the same coin. In this context, community communication has been the target of advances and setbacks, and the scenario for the development of community journalism is no different. New tensions with digital technologies reveal that political and economic powers accumulate in the media industry and crystallize hegemonic discourses. Thus, a communication reveals itself as the field of disputes, politics, promotion and social. In this article we propose to shed light on community journalism from the directions of Genro Filho (1987) with the intention of verifying whether this journalistic practice can contribute to the critical construction of society, with the expansion of social participation and, consequently , with the interest of the interested parties in relation to the news.
