The image in circulation: the occurrence of fires in Brazil and California
Keywords:

Based on a corpus composed of journalistic messages extracted from the UOL and G1 portals, obtained through the Google search engine, this study proposes a reflection on the way these digital media addressed two cases: drought/forest fires in Brazil (August 2024) and the fires that occurred in the State of California, in the United States (January 2025). The first journalistic event (Mouillaud, 2002) is analyzed from the perspective of the trivialization of the event. The objective is to examine how the digital media technically framed the images associated with the events. And, inferentially, to describe the phenomenon of drought which, when incorporated into the media circulation (Braga, 2012) can be re-signified by a process of reframing the event in a context of differentiation (Fausto Neto, 2018).
