Abstract

This article analyzes the separating movement that occurs in fandom environments between “fans” and “non-fans”. To achieve this, we will observe the expectations and barriers presented by the ARMY fandom in the constitution of “being a fan” in mediatized environments in the face of the cybernetic social interactions between them. This will be done by exploring and analyzing various dimensions of cultural capital cultivated and exposed in the YouTube video “A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7” (2022).
