Abstract

The objective of this article is to situate mediatization as the reference interactional process (Braga, 2006) in politics, based on the 2020 municipal elections in Brazil and, more specifically, the campaign of Guilherme Boulos and Luiza Erundina (PSOL) for the São Paulo Executive. To this end, we adopted an institutionalist aspect of mediatization (Fernández, 2023), analyzing how the logics of the media – even more prominent due to the distancing caused by the Covid-19 pandemic – affected the dynamics of the political field in this specific election.
