Black Mirror Bandersnatch: algorithms and the device of technical-symbolic affections

Abstract

This research seeks to study the complex paths of media processes that make up the interactive film Black Mirror Bandersnatch released in December 2018 on the Netflix streaming platform. The text brings with it tests of understandings about what is being conducted in the interactive process between users of the platform and itself in the convergent space of the film's narrative that seeks in the users' choices the contract of different labyrinthine pathways of the turning points that are dynamic and lead the interactant to the most diverse outcomes or that are sometimes imposed on certain spaces for exchanging the imposition of the narrative with algorithms tentative control within the agency environment.
