Infotainment in hard news radios: an analysis of the program Timeline Gaúcha

The article analyzes the use and consolidation of infotainment, a phenomenon that combines information with entertainment, in an attempt to make the programming of radio stations traditionally focused on hard news – an english term used to designate the objective report of news considered important (MOTTA , 2003) – lighter and more relaxed. If before, broadcasters with this format prioritized the news presented in a serious and objective way, today, it is clear that they use entertainment resources to compose the journalistic programs and leave the language in a conversational tone. In this way, it analyzes the use of infotainment in the Timeline program, from Gaúcha, from Porto Alegre, which, with colloquial language, sometimes differs from the more hard news profile of the broadcaster.
