A midiatization world and few voices

Abstract

The aim of this article is to discuss the importance of analyzing the meaning effects of silence and non-circulation. What are the effects of meaning in the absence of discourse, in the absence of communication for diversity? Authors such as Verón, Fairclough, Orlandi and Grohmann help us to reflect on the notions of discourse, meaning and silence. The research shows that the struggles for circulation are many and are related to the struggles for power. Where there is a power struggle, there are also different choices and in this diversity may lie the gaps for understanding the struggles for meaning. More than a utopia, understanding the effects of non-circulating meanings is fundamental in a democratic society, especially in order to give a voice to those who are not heard.
